HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I was fortunate to see some of our swimmers play soccer on Saturday morning! It was a lot of fun to see them compete in another sport. On Sunday, I was busy in the classroom learning more about swimming. Even coaches need to constantly learn- just like swimmers do! I hope everyone will be able to attend our apple bobbing this afternoon at the YMCA and some treats that will follow. Parents, please do not forget that we will hold our first informal group meetings tomorrow, November 1. There will be no regular practice. Please check the schedule below to see when your child's group meets. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with your child's coach.

Hope to see everyone there!

Welcome to Week 8!

I am pleased to report that our team swam very well this past weekend at the A/BB meet at Ft Eustis. One swimmer that stood out was Henry Roach who swam an "A" time in 50y breaststroke. This also qualifies him for the Junior Olympics/VA Age Group Championships held at Radford University in March. Other time improvements and solid swims were turned in by Jessica Cargill, Elise Gibbs, Brittney Gibbs, and Drew Keenan. Congratulations to all!

What a Great Swim-a-thon!!! Welcome to Week 7!

I am pleased to report that our team swam very well this past Wednesday. If you look on the bulletin board at the YMCA, you can see the results from each group. Coach Amanda and I feel that stroke technique and endurance work contributed to our ability to swim so much! I am very proud of the swimmers who committed to collecting money and parents who enabled them to do so. This is the first step in being a real part of USA swimming!!!!

In the Developmental group, freestyle drills, starts, turns, and finishes will be introduced this week while finishing the ability to scull effectively. The Junior groups will continue with backstroke/breaststroke this week and learning/improving backstroke flip turns and finishes. The senior group is continuing dryland circuit training and increasing their practice distance on a daily basis.

Coach Amanda and I would like to introduce Doug Norris, who will be working with the Junior group. He is a past high school swimmer who recently graduated from college in Ohio. We are very excited to welcome him to the Outer Banks Swim Club!
