What a Great Swim-a-thon!!! Welcome to Week 7!

I am pleased to report that our team swam very well this past Wednesday. If you look on the bulletin board at the YMCA, you can see the results from each group. Coach Amanda and I feel that stroke technique and endurance work contributed to our ability to swim so much! I am very proud of the swimmers who committed to collecting money and parents who enabled them to do so. This is the first step in being a real part of USA swimming!!!!

In the Developmental group, freestyle drills, starts, turns, and finishes will be introduced this week while finishing the ability to scull effectively. The Junior groups will continue with backstroke/breaststroke this week and learning/improving backstroke flip turns and finishes. The senior group is continuing dryland circuit training and increasing their practice distance on a daily basis.

Coach Amanda and I would like to introduce Doug Norris, who will be working with the Junior group. He is a past high school swimmer who recently graduated from college in Ohio. We are very excited to welcome him to the Outer Banks Swim Club!
Senior- Dryland- Running M+W @ 4:30. Fridays in Fitness Room B at 4:30PM. Senior meeting and tapes will be held Thursday @ 4:30 PM in the YMCA meeting room. Wear appropriate work out clothes and shoes for dryland workouts!

All swimmers please remember to bring the following to practice:
Goggles- you might invest in an extra pair, just in case!
Cap-girls at practice, everyone at meets
Fins- all groups beginning week of Oct 17 (this week)
Water or sports drink- Accelerade, Endurox, (only found at GNC or internet) Gatorade

Practice Schedule-

Senior- MTWTHF 4:30-6:30 Tues- 6:00AM-730AM, Sun- 3:30PM-5:30PM

Developmental- Tuesday, Thursday 6:30- 7:30

Junior Prep- Mon, Tues, Thurs. 3:30-4:30

Junior- Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri. 6:30-8:00 (3 to 4 practices recommended)

Junior Elite 1- Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, 6:30-8:00 / Sunday 3:30-5:30 ( 4 to 5 practices recommended)

Junior Elite 2- Mon, Wed, Fri, 4:30-6:30, Tues. 6:30-8:00, Sunday 3:30-5:30 ( 4 to 5 practices recommended)

UPCOMING DATES TO REMEMBER:

Oct. 22-23- A/BB meet Ft Eustis- Qualifying times only

Tuesday, Nov 1- Small parent practice group meeting/meet in YMCA lobby- NO PRACTICE
4-4:30- Developmental
4:30-5PM- Junior Prep
5:00-6:30PM- Junior
6:30-7:00PM- Junior Elite 1
7:00-7:30PM- Senior/Junior Elite 2

Nov 5-6- TIDE B/C meet- Ft Eustis
