Weekly Update

These are the messages of the week of March 31 - April 6, 2008

Welcome back Seniors!!!!!  We will be on regular practice schedule for the week with 2 changes.

--  There will be NO practice on Saturday morning due to a coach's retreat this weekend. --

--  There will be NO practice on Friday due to the awards banquet. --

12 & Unders will be back in the water starting on April 7, 2008 at the regular time.

Don't forget.......  The team's awards banquet is Friday April 4, 2008 at 6PM at the Western Sizzlin.

Outer Banks Swim Club 12 & Younger Meet - April 19-20

The Outer Banks Swim Club will host their first sanctioned USA Swim Meet on April 19-20, 2008 at the Outer Banks Family YMCA located in Nags Head NC.  If your team is interested in attending, please contact Coach Craig.   You can find the meet invitation and more information will follow soon. 

Weekly Update

These are the messages for week of March 24 - 30, 2008:

--  Happy Easter!!!!!!

--  Senior swimmers will be on break until March 30, and start back on March 31, 2008.

--  Age group swimmers will be on break until April 6, and start back on April 7, 2008

Please have a happy break, and be ready to be back ready for the long course season.

Updated Team Records

Following all of the recent Championship Meets, OBX Swim Club Short Course Team Records have been updated.  Congratulations to all!

Drew Keenan participated in the 2008 USA Swimming Speedo Champions Series Meet - Eastern Zone, South Region (also known as Sectionals) hosted by Curle Burke Swim Club and held in College Park, Maryland on March 13-16, 2008.  Here are two pictures from the meet.

These are the messages for the week of March 16 - 23, 2008

We will be on regular practice schedule for the week with 1 change

There will be NO practice on Saturday morning for any groups.

Age group qualifiers included Henry Roach, Sarah Mandis and Jon Roach.  These three children represented OBX Swim Club very well as we swam perfectly this weekend.  Some highlights included:

--  Henry Roach --  10:16.97 (1000Free), 5:01.1 (500Free), 17:22.21(1650Free)
--  Jon Roach --  1:17.12 (100I.M.), 35.8 (50Fly), 2:44.0 (200I.M.)
--  Sarah Mandis --  35.5 (50Fly), 1:20.6 (100Fly)

Sarah Mandis received her 1st ever AA time standard in the 100 Fly on Sunday. 

VA Swimming 2008 Short Course Age Group Championship Meet Results

Henry Roach was selected to represent OBX Swim Club on the Virginia Zone Team participating in Buffalo, NY on April 3 - 5, 2008.

Drew Keenan participated in the USA Swimming Speedo Champions Series meet this past weekend.  He swam and represented OBX Swim Club well, and swam with some of the fastest swimmers in the United States today.

St. Patrick's Day Parade & Float Decorating Cancelled

Due to some recent emergency circumstances at the Lowe house - float decorating and parade participation has been CANCELED for the weekend.

Weekly Update

These are the messages for the week of March 10 - 16, 2008

We will be on regular practice schedule for the week until Thursday

There will be NO practice Thursday through Sunday due to the Age Group Champ meet being held at George Mason Pool in Mannassas Virginia.

Both Drew Keenan and Henry Roach attended Senior Champs this past weekend.  It was a complete success for Drew Keenan(16) as he broke 5:00 in the 500 Free going a time of 4:54.78 on Saturday.  Henry Roach(14) went his LTB in the 1000 Free on Sunday going a time of 10:42.79.  Congratulations to both swimmers on a spectacular meet.

OBX Swim Club has (3) three participants in the Virginia Age Group Championships this coming weekend: Henry Roach(14), Jon Roach(10) and Sarah Mandis(10); Entry Report -  Good Luck swimmers.

OBX Swim Club has (1) one participant this coming weekend in the Eastern Zone Speedo Swimming Championships (Sectionals): Drew Keenan(16) and he will be swimming the 800 Free and then the 200 Free as a bonus event.  Good Luck.

There will be a rough Long Course practice and meet schedule up on the website NO LATER THAN Wednesday.

Weekly Update

These are the messages for the week of March 3 - March 9, 2008

The week's practice attendance is going to be mixed up.  Please Advise:

Everyone is on regular practice schedule until Wednesday.  There will be no practice for anyone from  Thursday - Sunday due to Senior Champs at University of Virginia.

***  Spring Break for all swimmers is as follows:

Seniors (13 & O's) --  March 23 - 31 (10 days)
12 and Unders  --  March 23 - April 6 (15 days)

***  Congratulations to all swimmers that participated yesterday in the OBX vs. YMCA Meet.  All kids swam so well, and you all should be proud of how you performed.  Thank you to all volunteers that came out and helped make this meet a complete success.
